In my family, it’s basically birthdays all around this weekend.  My dad’s birthday is today, the U.S.A.’s is tomorrow, and my mom’s is the next day.  The fireworks celebration between my parents’ birthdays has always seemed very fun and appropriate.  Well, when the rain doesn’t come down and keep the fireworks from happening, anyway!

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.  To me, this means cheese.  I’ve come to believe that cheese is basically the key to a man’s heart.  But you know what?  Women like food, too.  And what food do women swoon over? 

You guessed it.  Wine and chocolate.

And I do mean both together.  If you have both, it’s a magical thing, is it not? 

The other cool thing about combining the two here (plus some raspberries, of course) is that you’ll be hard-pressed to find a dude who isn’t head over heels for it, either.  I mean, it’s so dang amazing that it could probably stop all thought and speech for a few minutes.

I’m going to start this roundup post with three facts about myself:

One.  A good portion of my ancestry is Irish.  I don’t personally know any of the family that still lives there, but I listen to Celtic music a lot, as if it will bring me back to my roots.  (“Celtic” is legitimately a Pandora station I created and saved as the homepage of my computer.)

Two.  I spent two lovely weeks in Ireland in June of 2011.  I saw so many happy looking people and animals there.  I could practically live on the dense, grainy bread we ate everywhere we went.  And I did kiss the Blarney stone.
