8 Takes on Gingerbread Recipes

8 Takes on Gingerbread Recipes

I want to eat ALL the gingerbread!

I drew this little picture to help represent my feelings on the subject of gingerbread.  Isn't it just wonderful?

Personally, I think there has not been enough gingerbread in my life this season.  With Christmas a mere EIGHT days away, I think this is a fact in need of remedying.  As such, I've rounded up just about every way you can get the flavor of gingerbread in before it's too late!  Okay, technically it's never too late... but I certainly enjoy gingerbread the most before New Year's Day.

It's so lucky that on the 8th day of Christmas my FitCakes gave to me 8 Gingerbread Recipes!

11 Kid-Friendly Recipes

11 Kid-Friendly Recipes

Got any wishes for Christmas this year?
Is it a full-on, legitimate, letter-to-Santa list?  Or is there just ONE thing you really want and everthing else may as well be pencil-shavings in comparison?
Things I've wished for, for Christmases past include:  Polly Pockets, American Girls Dolls, an encyclopedia (I was eight and this request prompted my Dad to introduce me to the "Internet" and Brittanica.com), a pony, and an Easy Bake Oven (Got it! Have since graduated to the big kids' oven.)
This year some of the "things" on my list are not actual things.  And I think that's totally acceptable, especially as a grown-up, to have lists of Christmas wants that do not take up more space in your life.  True?

Pumpkin Granola + 2 Shotgun Halloween-Party Recipes

Pumpkin Granola + 2 Shotgun Halloween-Party Recipes

Almost every year since we've been together, Steve and I have hosted a Halloween party at our house.

I love hostessing Halloween parties because it's so fun to decorate for, dress up for - and, of course - make TREATS for!  It's also one of those really social holidays that, like the fourth of July or Labor Day, you want to invite friends, neighbors, coworkers, and all.  A perfect occasion for a big shindig!

I'm especially excited because I am now done preparing for my bikini competition, and this means two awesome things:  1. I can eat/drink the party-fare.  2.  I'll look better in my costume than I would have if I hadn't done the competition.  Heck yeah!  Party weekend, I am ready for you!

Peach Cobbler for Breakfast

Peach Cobbler for Breakfast

Lucky Charms, Pop Tarts, and blueberry bagels with butter and cinnamon sugar.  Those were three of my favorite breakfasts as a child.  See what these things have in common?  I might have had a wee bit of a sweet tooth first thing in the morning.

Well, okay, I still do.   But these days, I try to be a little more of a “grown-up” about meals – even though it’s pretty well known that I’m just a kid at heart!  I usually aim to eat foods that have more bang for my buck… or nutrients for my calories… now that I know that the value of a food does not, in fact, lie only in its level of tastiness.

Yet, where would we be without tastiness?  That’s like saying “we can do without frivolous things like happiness.” No!  That’s why tastiness is as important as healthiness on my blog.  We just gotta find the right balance.

This brings me to peach cobbler.  Fruit plus a crumbly topping makes a delicious dessert.  Sounds tasty, and it even has healthy peaches in it.  Kinda like breakfast ingredients… so why don’t we eat it for breakfast?  Hmm, maybe it’s a little too much like a kid breakfast.

Maybe that’s why.  It’s got all that sugary stuff mixed with the peaches.  And what’s even in the crumble on top?  White flour?  Butter??  Might as well make for that bagel…
