We all have our family traditions.  And traditions are the stuff of childhood memories and the center of every holiday gathering, no?  So when it comes to traditional recipes within the family, there are certain ones that you just know are going to stick around.  You know, for better or worse.

 

I love my mom’s traditional New Year’s Lemon Bundt Cake.  That one is for the better!  I swear I’ll never get sick of seeing that one come around. 

My grandma also has this adorable tradition of bringing olives and sweet gherkins (little pickles) to every holiday.  That one is a good one in my book – just because it’s a very my-grandma thing and, of course, brings back all kinds of childhood memories. (Ahem… eating pitted olives off my fingertips!)

There is one though, that comes around every Easter, and - let’s be honest:  We could all really do without!

It’s not every day that you get to dunk food into paint and call it art.  Thus, the reason dying Easter eggs is such great fun for kids – and heck, adults, too! 

As a kid, though, my sister and I used to get pretty fancy with our egg designs.  No big deal, but… they were kinda awesome.  (Our white table was proof of all the colors we used for days afterward.)  But, you know, food art can’t last forever, so when it came time to dismantle the masterpieces, we had to make new creations out of the old ones.

Eggs are What’s for Breakfast: Three Ways

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, cats and dogs (my pets Bean and Chase don’t like being left out)…

I’ve decided to try something new.  For the next three weeks, I’ll be testing out a new schedule for blog posts, so you’ll have something to dance around in anticipation for every day of the week.  You do dance in anticipation, right?  That’s not just me?

If this schedule is pleasing to you (and your cats and dogs who I assume don’t want to be left out, either) it will stick and be available for marking in your blog-reading calendar henceforth.  Until people tell me they’re bored and that something new needs to be added.
