Rutabaga-Cauliflower Mashed “Potatoes”

Rutabaga-Cauliflower Mashed “Potatoes”

So it’s official.

Chris Pratt got pretty good looking in The Guardians of the Galaxy.  I think he’s been working out or something.

That movie did come out a while ago, so… I guess that’s not really new news.  But I did just hear something else…

He’s taken!  By Anna Farris!  Er… looks like that actually that happened like six years ago.  When they got married.

Buuut they had a baby!  That’s… two years old now.  Did you know that already?

Apparently I do not keep up with the celeb gossip.  I guess I figured I’d find out anything worth knowing by reading the covers of OK! and People magazines in line at the grocery store.  But you know what?  I’m decidedly alright with being the last to know about celebrity affairs.  I find THIS surprising couple so much more fun to dish on, anyway.

Cauliflower and rutabaga!

5 Meatless Main Dishes

5 Meatless Main Dishes

On the 5th Day of Christmas, FitCakes gave to me... 5 meatless main dish recipes!

As the countdown continues, I thought we needed some healthy/hearty meatless dishes to keep us warm inside, you know, to help get in more plant-based foods without constantly resorting to salads.  Just a guess buuut... if you can see snow outside/ it's less than 65 degrees in your house, you MIGHT be more into hot food right now.  Bonus:  These recipes seem more like comfort food than health food, so no feelings of "missing out" on traditional holiday indulging should occur.

On the topic of traditions, what could be more traditional to Christmas than decorating the tree?
It's been a tradition in my family for years to get ornaments for our Christmas tree whenever we go on vacation or do something really memorable together.  This translates to a really interesting looking tree.

In Tucson, there are a scarcity of cozy-weather days.  The past week though, has been a rare week full of cozy-weather days.  Full-on robe-and-slippers stuff.  Hot cocoa has finally begun to sound like a good idea.  I think it's awesome.

No, it's not like we've got piles of snow - or even piles of leaves, for that matter - but it's been rainy and cold, as if to make at least a half-hearted attempt at winter.  If you hadn't noticed before, my culinary cravings are often inspired by the weather.  And as much as I've tried to get into the holiday baking and hot foods these past few months, it's only been the last few days that the climate has become more... appropriate.
